About Me and My Reviews

Hi there,

My name is Caroline. I’ve been watching movies (and loving them) almost my whole life. I watch and enjoy most genres of film and TV – including action, horror, drama, romance, and family – and there have been very few that I’ve not found some aspect to enjoy. In fact there are only two films that I can name off the top of my head that I couldn’t sit through (and as with all things I’m sure there are folks who disagree with me), Tin Cup and A Simple Plan. That said, I was quite young when I tried to watch these, perhaps I should try again…

Why blog about movies? Well, mainly because I tend to review every film I see on my Facebook wall anyway and people seem to enjoy my reviews, so why not start my own blog?! Also, I’m so tired of the prevalence of negative reviews out there. Every film/show is not going to be for everyone, we all have different tastes. Which is why it irks me that someone who is clearly not a fan of the horror genre might review a film like Scream, totally not understand it or appreciate it and then trash it to anyone who will listen. In my view, film reviewing should be about informing people as to whether they are likely to enjoy a film or not.

For example, if you love the filmic excesses of Baz Luhrmann I would recommend seeing The Great Gatsby, and my reviews will reflect that. However I do realise that there are people out there who don’t enjoy his films at all. I feel that the key to enjoying as many movies as humanly possible is to watch them with an open mind. Go into the cinema with no expectations and you’re likely to be pleasantly surprised. Let the movie take you where the director, writers and editors want to take you – you might just like it!
